the "introduction" post

I suppose the question is, can you even HAVE a blog without an introduction/about me post? I'm going to go with, NO! You actually cannot. Here is my obligatory "introduction" post. I'll start with my name, Amanda...and here comes the rambling rest.

Truth is, way back about three kids ago, I was heavily into the whole blog thing. I was a young momma to four kids and it's how I found some friends. I met a bunch of them in real life and am still friends with so many more on Facebook. If you can add, and I am sure you can, I have seven kids now...and I'm really not a young momma.

The seven kids are some of the very best things that have ever happened to me...and the hardest. Parenting is hard and awesome all in the same breath. They are currently 17, almost 16, 14, 13, almost 12, 8 and 7. We also had one miscarriage before our oldest and two more in-between the 13 and 12 year old. That's ten pregnancies in as many years, but being seven years on the other side of it...WOW!! It's incredible. To throw in a bit of random, our kids are alphabetically named. A and B were not done on purpose...but I couldn't NOT continue the alphabet. We ended at E. Then had our finale at F and the grand finale at G. H is a big HECK NO! (in case you were wondering, I know you were)

We homeschool our kids. WE? Who is this we? (face palm) I couldn't be a momma without my high school sweetheart! We started dating when I was 16 and he was 18...and here we are 23 years later, living in the house he grew up in. His dad grew up in it before he did, too. I was never thinking I'd be a "country girl", but here I am...and absolutely love it. On our farm we have some crazy chickens and a super lazy dog. We also cash crop our land. While my husband isn't farming our land, he's busy being a maintenance manager at a large local dairy farm.

Back in the day of blogging I was "all in" designing my blog and I knew all the html codes and all that jazz. What you don't use...you lose. This is true for anything I remember about designing, so you get the basic look of this blog. The funny thing is, I'm totally cool with it! My heart isn't to impress you with a fancy blog full of razzle and dazzle...but one full of real through random.

My heart is to share the random thoughts on my heart and pray they show and share the realness of the God I love and serve. My heart is to be vulnerable and pray that it encourages you to do the same. My heart is to share a piece of my heart with each post I make, praying that you can see nothing but the realness of God.

With that, I am guessing you can guess that I'm a believer. I'm a lover of Jesus and am so thankful for the relationship that I have with him. I am thankful for the HOPE and JOY that knowing Him has given me and pray that you can find that same hope and joy through knowing Christ.

I'm speaking at the Known Conference in October. Well, technically I'm a virtual speaker...but I will be attending the conference, and attendees are able to see/hear my talk virtually if they decide. My point is...for the conference, I needed a headshot. This makes me seem so much fancier than I really am, but I also had so much fun with it. That picture of me over to the right, is the result. FUN UPDATE!! I'll actually be an IN PERSON speaker at Known, now!! WOO!! Come hear me on the Friday of the conference.

I am super excited you're here to get some real through the random that is my life, but I'm even more excited that you can be part of my random and see the beautiful real of my God. I also am super excited to get to know YOU and maybe some of your random. I don't want to be strangers. I don't want to be some face behind a computer screen that feels like I'm talking to myself, so don't be shy and say HI! (my kids would totally roll their eyes at me right now for making that rhyme)

I'm cutting myself off now. Thanks for being here and I can't wait to share with you again, soon! ♡ ap
